School Session: Students’ Voice at Online Educa Berlin

Guus Wijngaards was chairman of the “School Session” at the Online Educa ’09. This session featured secondary school students of the Humboldt Gymnasium and the Nelson Mandela International School in Berlin. Listen to the students’ voice, discussing their use of ICT at home and for learning, the level of ICT in their schools, the skills of their teachers and their views on co-creatorship in learning and education.

Students’ Voices at Online Educa Berlin 2009

On 4 December 2009 at Online Educa in Berlin, Professor Guus Wijngaards (INHolland University, The Netherlands) and Associate Professor Kathryn Moyle (University of Canberra, Australia), will be presenting their findings from their respective national research projects listening to students views of learning with technologies. At this session we would like to canvass interest and support for taking this work further by inviting interested academics and government officers to indicate whether they would be interested in being involved in future collaborative research work.
How can I participate in the Students’ Voices research?

The Students’ Voices research project is an international initiative which aims to build collaborations between countries interested in listening to the views of students about learning with technologies.
You are invited to participate in one or more of three projects:
- Listening to students’ views of learning with technologies across education and training sectors;
- Development of case studies;
- Development of video vignettes about learning with Web 2.0 & Web 3.0.
The materials developed in projects 1 and 3 will be covered under a creative commons licence and project 2 will be covered by the publishers copyright.
To participate in these projects it is intend you take part as active participants and contribute findings back to the pool of research and resources being developed.

Results of Students’ Voices I research projects

The Listening to students’ and educators’ views of learning with technologies across education and training sectors research project listens to and analyses what students in primary and secondary schools, in vocational education and training (VET) institutions, and what pre-service and early career teachers, have to say about learning with technologies.
Results of research conducted in 2008 and 2009 are currently available from Australia and The Netherlands. You can download these results here.
